Chapman University seeks applications for Fall 2021 for Part-time Japanese Lecturer in the Department of World Languages and Cultures within Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.

• M.A. in Japanese or related field.
• Demonstrate ability to teach beginning and intermediate level Japanese language courses face to face.
• Native or near-native command of both Japanese and English.
• Minimum two years teaching experience at higher education level in Japanese.



• Teach one Japanese course fall 2021, hold office hours, and support college policies and procedures.
• Be available to teach in person 1 50-minute class MWF 12-12:50 pm.
• Faculty are expected to demonstrate the following characteristics:
o Commitment to student retention and success.
o Commitment to development and assessment of student learning.
o Use of technology and innovative approaches to enhance teaching and learning.
o Willingness to support a diverse population of learners inside and outside the classroom.
o Ability to work in a participatory and collegial setting.
