POSITION SUMMARY. Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa announces the search for a new Vice President for Institutional Advancement. The Vice President will report directly to the President of the College and serve as the College’s chief development officer. He/she will provide leadership in developing a greater understanding of and appreciation for the College and its programs. Further, he/she will be responsible for securing strong financial support for all aspects of the College’s philanthropic efforts. The Vice-President will supervise and provide leadership for all of the advancement areas: development, alumni relations, and advancement services. The Vice President will serve as a member of the President’s Administrative Team and will facilitate the President’s involvement in Advancement. He/she will research, cultivate, and solicit potential major donors; provide leadership to and direction for all capital campaigns and; develop an annual operating plan for the Advancement division.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE. A Bachelor’s Degree in any field is required. A Master’s degree preferred. A minimum of five years of experience in fundraising is required, preferably in a college or university setting. Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices involved in educational fundraising, capital campaigns, planned giving, research, marketing and public relations is expected. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; ability to work in a team environment; collaborative management style; and a strong commitment to diversity are critical.   Candidates will be expected to support and advance the mission of the College and effectively advocate the College's Catholic identity. 

 

COMPENSATION.  Commensurate with qualifications, education and experience. THE COMMUNITY.  Loras College's 60-acre campus is located on one of Dubuque's highest bluffs, overlooking the Mississippi River at the junction of the states of Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin, about 3 hours west of Chicago. Dubuque's population is approximately 65,000 and its nineteenth century architecture is woven into limestone bluffs and provides a picturesque backdrop to the river landscape. Many residential and commercial areas have been designated as historical districts to preserve Dubuque's unique heritage. Its strong education base supports numerous cultural activities, and in addition, there are sporting events, shopping facilities, schools, and churches that are convenient to its residents. The climate has marked seasons with a comfortable summer, cool spring and fall, and a winter that encourages a variety of sports that have in recent years attracted a growing tourism industry.
