The Director of the Tarver Library and Assessment and User Experience Librarian is a 12-month, professional staff position, which contributes to the mission of Mercer University by providing strategic direction and vision through successful management of the Tarver Library (TL) in Macon, as well as providing user experience and assessment leadership and expertise to the greater University Library system. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership by fostering an environment where library personnel offer exceptional customer service individually and collectively, in furthering the goals and mission of the Library and Mercer University. In addition, the qualified candidate will work directly with the Library Dean as the Library System's dedicated Assessment and User Experience Librarian by working with Library staff in collecting, organizing and making available Library statistics and data; participating in University-wide assessment committees and working groups; and engaging with the Mercer University community in soliciting feedback and input in the Library's performance. The work of the TL Director/Assessment and User Experience Librarian will enable the Mercer Libraries to document value and impact and to make evidence-based decisions, ensuring that the most effective programs, services, and spaces are offered to users.Required Qualifications
A Master's in Library Science degree or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution and prior senior-level service experience in progressively responsible library management are required. Candidates with a doctorate or additional terminal degree in any field germane to the offerings at Mercer are highly desirable. The successful candidate must have a proven proficiency in major cloud-based office services (Google, Microsoft, Apple, Zoom, etc.) and social media tools (Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, etc.) and familiarity with cloud-based Library databases and services (ALMA/PRIMO, Ebsco, Proquest, JSTOR, etc.)
Candidates must have a valid driver's license as some travel may be required between campuses.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Excellent communication skills
Proven experience with assessment systems and strategic planning
Proven proficiency in major cloud-based office services (Google, Microsoft, Apple, Zoom, etc.) and social media tools (Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, etc.)
Proficiency with cloud-based Library databases and services.
A commitment to service-oriented collaboration and outreach with multiple campus constituencies and a significant online presence.
Experience with fund-raising and donor relations
Demonstrated ability to manage, mentor, and lead library colleagues for effective and responsive library operations geared toward twenty-first century pedagogical trends and patron-driven Library services.
The ability to articulate expectations, goals, criticism, and positive feedback in a constructive manner.
Demonstrates the proactivity and innovation required to work independently, while also retaining the ability to work on teams
The ability to translate planning into action and achievements through leadership and guidance.
Evidence of excellent organizational, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills, including initiative, creativity, problem solving, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the University.
Experience in budget and human resource management.
Evidence of commitment to personal and professional growth and development.
