Associate Vice President for Enrollment & Director of Admissions

 

Mount Marty University (MountMarty.edu), a Catholic liberal arts university located in Southeast South Dakota, seeks nominations and applications for the position of AVP for Enrollment & Director of Admissions (AVP/Director). The AVP/Director will lead all recruitment and enrollment efforts incorporating and building on the university's strengths and values. The AVP/Director establishes collaborative partnerships to enhance visibility and manage complex initiatives to ensure the university meets its enrollment goals and objectives. The AVP/Director is committed to a rigorous, strategic approach to leading the office and utilizes constant assessment and analysis that allow for data-driven, informed decision-making. This requires significant planning for, and management of, the undergraduate and graduate recruitment and admission funnel and financial aid strategy to ensure enrollment goals within defined and sometimes changing targets. The position manages and evaluates programs, personnel, and budget for the Admissions Office and will proactively recognize and embrace opportunities for change.

 

Fully committed to the success of all students, the AVP/Director ensures the University initiatives, goals, and priorities are reflected in the outreach message and admissions work of the department. The AVP also works closely with a variety of academic and administrative units to advance an integrated and comprehensive institutional enrollment management strategy for undergraduate freshman and transfer students and graduate programs. Above all, the AVP/Director will be dedicated to MMU’s mission and values and its commitment to a quality education grounded in the Catholic, Benedictine tradition.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Oversees development and implementation of a strategic enrollment management plan as well as comprehensive recruitment plans.
  • Contributes to the successful accomplishment of university enrollment goals in collaboration with
  • The Vice President for Student Success, Athletic Director and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
  • Responsible for training, evaluation, coaching, professional development, and management of professional, student and clerical support personnel in the Office of Admissions.
  • Maintains and implements working knowledge of student characteristics, market trends and best practices in undergraduate and graduate recruitment.
  • Maintains effective networks of high schools and community colleges that facilitate inquiry and student transition.
  • Develops marketing strategies in consultation with appropriate campus constituents.
  • Provides direct coaching to admissions counselors on their ability to employ the relationship approach with prospective and current students.
  • Leads the institutional financial aid packaging strategy.
  • Assesses policy and procedures to support University goals, recruitment, and efficient application processing.
  • Develops and executes a holistic admissions review process.
  • Fosters an office environment that empowers staff and emphasizes continuous improvement, relationship building and customer service.
  • Manages the office budget.
  • Represents the office on appropriate University committees and affiliated organizations.
  • Maintains an active role with appropriate professional organizations.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (i.e. Business, Marketing & Sales, HR, Higher Education, etc.).
  • Five to seven years of progressively responsible experience relevant to the job responsibilities.
  • Three years of supervisory and/or related management experience.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of marketing, information and communications technologies in recruitment, admissions, records, and management.
  • Demonstrated communication, organizational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to serve as an articulate spokesperson for the mission, values and goals of the institution.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in a related field and experience in a University setting.
  • Proficient in the use of customer relations management systems (CRM) and student information systems.
