Job Description:

Dean College's Joan Phelps Palladino School of Dance is looking for dynamic, experienced musicians to work as accompanists (hourly) for weekly dance technique classes. The College seeks virtuosic professionals with knowledge of dance, who are capable of active musical engagement and guidance in the classroom, and supportive of collaboration with the primary instructor. Individuals chosen to teach at Dean create a compelling and professional learning environment for students of diverse learning backgrounds.

Job Duties

  • Support and accompany weekly in-person technique classes, master classes and auditions;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Ability to sight read classical music, if a pianist, AND/OR ability to improvise based on a score, if a percussionist, required;
  • Prior experience accompanying dance course work at the collegiate, professional, or pre-professional level, required;
  • COVID-19 Vaccination, required;
  • Knowledge and skills specific to dance accompaniment, required;
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with dance instructors in a dance class setting, required.
