The Creative Writing Program at Colby College is accepting applications for the 2022 Jennifer Jahrling Forese Writer-in-Residence.

The Forese Writer-in-Residence is a semester-long residency, beginning in February of 2022, which provides a poet at any stage of his/her career an opportunity to work on a writing project, while also being involved in the Colby literary community. Duties of the Forese Writer-in-Resident will include teaching one class designed by the Resident in consultation with the Program Director, giving one reading during the semester, being available for office hours, working with selected seniors in the appropriate genre, and interacting with the broader Waterville community.

The 2021 Forese Writer-in-Residence was Nicholson Baker.

In addition to a generous honorarium, housing in downtown Waterville will be provided, along with a stipend for expenses.

Qualifications

Qualifications: MFA, creative PhD, or equivalent; two book-length works (includes chapbooks); some demonstrated experience of teaching at the undergraduate level.

The search committee is especially interested in candidates who will participate in the dialogue between Creative Writing and other areas on campus, and who, through their involvement on campus, will contribute to diversity and excellence of the campus community.

To apply, please submit a CV, a cover letter, a description of the proposed course, a significant excerpt from one of your books in pdf form, and the names of two possible references (do not send reference letters at this time). Materials can be posted to Interfolio [address here].

Deadline: September 30, 2021.
