Head Coach, Women's Softball

Job Description

Missouri Western State University located in St Joseph, MO, invites applicants to join our Athletics Division as Head Coach of Women’s Softball.

The Head Coach directs, plans, and manages the operation of an athletic sports program including academic performance of student athletes, coaching and training, recruiting, scheduling, budgeting, public relations, fundraising and promotion.

Supervision includes: Assistant Coach and Graduate Assistants


  • Organizes activities and programs to assist student athletes in academic success and personal development
  • Organizes and develops the recruiting program; develops public relations strategies
  • Supervises assistant coaches and assistants
  • Organizes, manages, and executes practices and games
  • Develops and manages budgets and operations plan; assists with fund-raising for athletics
  • Schedules practices and non-conference games and organizes related travel for team
  • Assists in monitoring and maintaining athletic facilities and equipment
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and four years of collegiate successful coaching and/or playing experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; fundamentals of the sport; physical conditioning and health; and coaching of athletic sports.

Physical Demands

Light Work
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and /or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
