Job Details

A successful candidate will play an active role in FMU's existing academic success. The Associate Athletic Director for Student Success and Compliance shall have the primary responsibilities to direct and oversee all aspects of the compliance, eligibility office, and overseeing all aspects related to student-athletes’ academic success. Analyze existing and proposed athletics and institutional policies and procedures; assist in the implementation of relevant procedures. This customer-centric role requires a commitment to student athletes’ academic success and strong support for the strategic goals and mission of the University. Reviews conference legislation and provide solution-based evaluations.

Essential Functions:

Maintain and manage student-athlete compliance: by determining eligibility and accountability; communicating and enforcing values; implementing recruitment, selection, orientation, training, coaching, counseling, disciplinary, and communication programs. Establishing and adhering to policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines in compliance with the policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines of all University, NAIA, state, and Federal Laws.

  • Protects assets by establishing compliance standards; anticipating emerging compliance trends; designing improvements to internal control structure.
  • Implement ongoing comprehensive rules education program for the institution's student/athletes, coaches, faculty, and alumni/donor groups to ensure compliance with NAIA, conference, and institution rules and regulations.
  • Oversee the success of the department’s student-athletes, including their academics, health, safety, and welfare.
  • Serve as the liaison with the financial aid, registrar, and admissions department.
  • Develops compliance organizational strategies by contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction; establishing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives.
  • Establish operational measures, critical measurements; determining production, productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies.
  • Enforce regulations; recommending new procedures; complying with legal requirements.
  • Ensures full compliance with NAIA, conference, and institution regulations and is responsible for the integrity of all athletics programs and the faculty, staff, and students employed and/or participating within.
  • Maintain a full roster of eligible student-athletes.
  • Advice, coach, and counsel student-athletes academically, athletically, and socially.
  • Recruit students to the university that can be successful in a collegiate setting and ultimately graduate from the institution.
  • The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that logically relate to the position.

  • Effective analytical and decision-making skills. Excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, and time management skills. Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse constituents.
  • Attention to detail and adaptability to a changing environment is extremely important as well as dependability.
  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling objects of average-weight up to fifty (50) pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

  • The position requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with three (3) plus years progressive experience in intercollegiate athletic program administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, as well as knowledge and understanding of the organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours.
  • Pre-Employment screening is required: criminal background check and drug testing.
