About the Institute for Experiential AI (IEAI) at Northeastern University

We are launching a pioneering research and innovation hub in AI—one that will shape the way humans and machines collaborate. Led by Dr. Usama Fayyad, the Institute for Experiential AI (IEAI) is built around the challenges and opportunities made possible by human-machine collaboration. This role is based in Portland, Maine, at the Roux Institute at Northeastern University, as the Roux Institute will be a center of activity for the IEAI's efforts.

Social media plays a critical role in developing brand presence and relevance, and this role will contribute to the emergence of an exciting new Institute focused on the fusion of human and machine intelligence into working AI solutions

The Institute of Experiential AI is looking for a creative, data-driven individual to play an active role in the development, monitoring, and nurturing of its social media communities. The successful candidate will use data and monitoring strategies to optimize content, engage with community, identify potential issues, and provide timely and regular reporting updates.

The Social Media Coordinator must have strong writing skills, the ability to identify and stay ahead of emerging trends, and be able to quickly synthesize complex information into reports for university leadership.

  • Develop and drive process to manage a best-in-class social media practice including planning, content creation, publishing, community engagement, moderation, and reporting.

  • Partner with cross-functional partners, including creative, to ensure continuous, targeted content innovation across social media channels and optimized by audience.

  • Oversee tools required to execute strategy

  • Develop, set, and measure against KPIs to measure the business impact of social media efforts.

  • Use social listening tactics to identify areas of opportunity for effective engagement.

  • Think and act quickly in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and representing The Institute of Experiential AI at the highest level.

  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in communications, journalism or related coursework.

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in social media and digital media or marketing, ideally in a hi-tech context

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Medium, Clubhouse and podcasting platforms with a focus on how each platform can and should be utilized for.

  • Expertise in social media monitoring, analytics, and reporting tools.

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, PremierPro) and video production or equivalent digital media editing tools a plus

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy while maintaining speed and consistency.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to inform decisions.

  • Excellent written and verbal skills and ability to communicate effectively across academia and industry.

  • Strong copywriting and editing skills.

  • Self-starter with the ability to be proactive and set priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience in higher education is not required.

  • Ability to understand historical, current, and future trends in the digital content and social media space.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Innovative thinking and keeping up to date on the latest trends of social media. Identifying new channels to promote the Institute and help design outreach campaigns

  • Excellent written and verbal skills and ability to communicate effectively across academia and industry.

  • Team-player who can collaborative effectively across many teams within the University.

  • Open-minded and assertive when collaborating and working within our team and with other groups within Northeastern University.

  • Entrepreneurial mind-set with an ability to navigate complex structures and processes
