Job Summary

The Director, Membership & Campaign Strategy reports to the Associate General Manager, Development and Community Relations and is responsible for the membership effort at WGCU. This position creates and drives integrated campaign efforts via direct mail, radio, television and digital to raise $2M annually from almost 15,000 donors at present. This position serves on the leadership team and supervises a team of professional level fundraising officers responsible to cultivate the development life-cycle of prospects and donors.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

•Develops fundraising strategies, goals, and objectives for the unit, including prospect identification and fundraising facilitation. Oversees the design of fundraising campaigns and comprehensive communication strategies for on-air, on-line, and direct mail campaigns.

•Cultivates the development life-cycle of prospects and donors for WGCU’s priority projects. Oversees preparation gift proposals, solicitation letters, gift agreements, and other materials for donors and prospects.

•Develops, cultivates, expands, and maintains a portfolio of low to mid-level donors and donor prospects.

•Plans and develops innovative strategies for portfolio growth. Develops and implements a lead management tracking system for identifying, evaluating, cultivating and managing prospects and donors.

•Collaborates with University leadership to fund significant projects and programs related to the University's mission.

•Develops and implements effective management and operating policies, procedures and practices as directed by the Associate General Manager.

•Provides leadership to the donor relations and stewardship team.

•Oversees the design of fundraising campaigns and communication plans with donors and prospective donors.

•Maximizes results of integrated campaigns via direct mail, radio, television and digital channels.

•Collaborates with University leadership to fund significant projects and programs related to the University's mission.

•Participates in the development and coordination of special events and programs for donors and prospects.

Other Duties:

•Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

• May manage a portfolio of donors and prospects.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field.

Eight years of professional full-time experience with Advancement, fundraising, or other relevant experience.

Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Demonstrated success identifying new funding donor sources.

Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field.

Fundraising experience in a higher education setting.

Experience and proficiency with Raiser’s Edge or similar fundraising applications.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of the principles, best practices, trends, and legal constraints of fundraising and gift solicitation within higher education.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Skill in public speaking and delivering presentations to individuals and groups.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects.

Ability to be a self-starter with documented results in building new programs and initiatives.

Ability to think critically and creatively, have a high standard of integrity, and be motivated to incorporate best practices into the organizational structure.

Ability to thrive in an organization that values the diversity of its student body and workforce and actively promotes equity and inclusion.

Demonstrated ability to write successful grant proposals.

Demonstrated ability to establish and build positive and strategic relationships with colleagues, donors, and volunteers.

Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and present information in a meaningful manner.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times.

Ability to travel locally and throughout the state and work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.

Salary Range: $67,500 - $70,000 Annual
