Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities
The Office of Strategic Marketing and Engagement seeks to hire a highly organized and experienced Creative Project Manager to join the VCU Office of Development and Alumni Relations ( DAR ) Communications team. The Creative Project Manager will provide strategic project management, administrative and fiscal support for internal and external projects for the Office of Strategic Marketing and Engagement. The incumbent will manage and track all of the department’s internal and external projects to ensure they are completed in an accurate and timely manner. This position reports to the director of creative content.

General duties and responsibilities include:

● Project manage all aspects of client and internal projects, to include scheduling meetings, planning and designating project resources, setting production schedules, preparing budgets, monitoring progress and keeping all stakeholders informed along the project’s life cycle.
● Use project management software to collect, organize, assign, deliver and archive service requests.
● Develop, manage and steward vendor relationships to ensure projects run smoothly, including procuring cost estimates, coordinating pre-press and production schedules, receiving deliverables and coordinating invoicing with accounting.
● Generate and manage project-specific schedules and creative briefs to effectively monitor and track progress. Work with key stakeholders to acquire necessary information.
● Manage expectations with clients and departmental teams. Develop weekly project status reports, negotiate timelines and ensure that all assets are delivered on time.
● Maintain industry best practices in project management, while regularly evaluating, monitoring and recommending updates to project policies, procedures and workflow.
● Coordinate and execute outgoing print mailings to multiple constituencies.
● Maintain publications archives. Minimum Hiring Standards
● Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications or other related field, or equivalent experience.
● 2-4 years of previous work experience as an account executive/manager, traffic coordinator or project manager, in a creative environment a plus.
● Previous experience using project management software.
● Excellent customer service skills and ability to anticipate client needs.
● Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
● Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a university professional at VCU . Preferred Hiring Standards
● Previous experience using Jira or Wrike project management software.
● Certified Associate in Project Management, Project Management Professional or equivalent certification.
● Strong knowledge of print and/or web production processes.
● Ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines with frequent interruptions while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
● Strong grammar and proofreading skills with attention to detail.
