Description of the Job
The Virginia Commonwealth University College of Humanities &
Sciences is recruiting a pool of adjunct faculty to teach in the
Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences with an emphasis in
Health Science. Responsible to teach undergraduate and/or graduate
courses in Health Science in the following course options:
HPEX 121: Self Defense: Karate or Judo
HPEX 250: Medical Terminology
HPEX 271: Safety, First Aid and CPR
HPEX 300: Health Care Delivery in the U.S.
HPEX 345: Nutrition for Health and Disease
HPEX 352: Substance Abuse
HPEX 353: Disease Trends, Prevention and Control
HPEX 354: Coping and Adaptation
HPEX 355: School and Community Health Resources
HPEX 356: Community Health Education and Promotion: Theory and
HPEX 357: Personal Health and Behavior Change
HPEX 358: Introduction to Epidemiology
HPEX 435: Health Disparities in the U.S.
HPEX 445: Principles of Health Care Management
HPEX 450: Program Planning and Evaluation
HEMS 640: Health Care Organization and Delivery in the U.S.
HEMS 641: Human Disease Prevention, Prevalence and Lifestyle Risk
HEMS 642: Theoretical Foundations of Health Behavior Change
HEMS 643: Fundamentals of Motivational Interviewing
HEMS 644: Advanced Motivational Interviewing
HEMS 645: Application of Motivational Interviewing in Clinical
HEMS 646: Application of Motivational Interviewing in
HEMS 647: Concepts and Applications in Chronic Disease
HEMS 648: Health Behavior Change Counseling Techniques for Clinical
HEMS 649: Planning, Implementing and Evaluating
Group/Community-focused Health Behavior Change Interventions
Earned Master’s Degree in Health Science or related field for
undergraduate course; Earned Doctoral Degree in Health Science or
related field for graduate course; competence in teaching
undergraduate/graduate courses in content areas listed. Faculty
member must have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a
diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do
so as a faculty member at VCU .
