Position Research Analyst Full Time/Part Time Full Time Job Type Regular Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Research, this position is responsible for developing, writing and analyzing various reports, through the use of statistical analysis and data interpretation. This position also communicates institutional data and other information to constituents throughout the university, to support and enhance informed decision-making, problem solving, strategic planning, policy development and institutional self-assessment. Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide relevant, timely, and accurate institutional data to university administrators and the university community at large, the external community, and external agencies • Provide institution-wide support for obtaining data and information and performing analyses in response to specific needs • Assist with the completion of federal and state reporting requirements, including IPEDS, HED, Clearinghouse, HLC mandated reports, and other required reports. • Submit regular data reports to the National Student Clearinghouse • Provide data and serve as support staff for university accreditation activities • Provide data and serve as support staff for university outcomes assessment activities • Work cooperatively with various university constituencies to optimize the quality, availability, and flow of relevant data and information throughout the university • Develop data collection and reporting tools • Collect, analyze, interpret and summarize data in preparation for generation of institutional reports including the annual NMHU Fact Book and other institutional materials • Administer and design institutional survey instruments in support of institutional assessment activities • Assist with grant applications and reports by providing faculty and staff with institutional information and program data • Help to maintain OIER webpages • Help to maintain OEIR budget and orders supplies as needed • Maintain security and confidentiality regarding database records and documents • Maintain regular attendance • Perform related job duties as assigned Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Access and Excel and two years of research experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency with Oracle database, ARGOS Report Writer, SQL Script Special Conditions for Eligibility Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Enterprise data storage; project management; analytics and data management; developing data dashboards on web pages; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community; ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports; knowledge of database management and data retrieval methods; experience in collecting, analyzing, verifying, and manipulating research data; ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart information to a range of institutional and external stakeholders; ability to work cooperatively with various university constituencies to optimize the quality, availability, and flow of relevant data and information throughout the university; knowledge and understanding of general principles used in evaluation and assessment; knowledge of survey design principles (e.g., developing effective survey instruments, sampling, methodology, etc.); knowledge and understanding of relational database systems (preferably Banner); advanced skill in the use of computers and related software applications Physical Demands
