Position Student Activities and Events Coordinator Full Time/Part Time Full Time Job Type Regular Position Summary
In consultation with supervisor, this position is responsible for planning and managing inclusive and engaging student activities and events on campus, on-line, and in the community. Duties and Responsibilities
-Manage the planning and implementation of student activities and directly support the execution of special and large scale events. Work closely with supervisor, student employees, and other employees including center personnel to ensure a vibrant and engaging student experience through high quality programming. (50%) -Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, evaluate, and give direction to student employees who conduct programming. Facilitate communication/teamwork among staff. (20%) -Efficiently promote activities and events, in consultation with University Relations, to include but not limited to social media, web page, digital signage, student engagement platform, print, radio, newspaper, etc. Support and oversee student social media engagement. (15%) – Maintain accurate participant and program data and compile participation reports monthly or as requested by the department supervisor. Regularly assess and evaluate activities and events. (10%) – Assists in fulfilling duties of department staff and supervisor in their absence and directly supports other events and programming hosted by departments within the division of student affairs. Assists with the submission and processing of invoices, travel requests, purchase requisitions and other duties as assigned. (5%) -Attend appropriate staff meetings; -Report monthly/quarterly statistics; -Solicit feedback and input on various programming; -Maintain regular attendance; -Perform related duties as assigned. Minimum Job Requirements
Education – Bachelor’s Degree in any field. Experience – 1 year of experience related to specified duties. Preferred Qualifications
Education – Master’s Degree in any field Experience – Experience working in event planning and management. Special Conditions for Eligibility
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule as required by the position to include regular evening, nights, and weekends. – Must possess and maintain a valid NM Driver’s license. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies to include students, staff, faculty, and community members; – Strong ability to work independently; – Strong ability to work in a high stress environment; – Ability to problem solve as issues arise; – Ability to demonstrate high energy in most aspects of position; – Ability to use good judgement; – Ability to maintain confidentiality; – Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures; – Must be trustworthy and responsible; – Must be knowledgeable in university policies and guidelines for events; – Skill in training, leading, organizing, advising, and planning; – Must have excellent computer and social media skills; – Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control; Physical Demands
-Moderate physical activity; – Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 100 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day; – Work may involve exposure to various elements of the weather during outdoor events/concerts; – Work may require lifting of equipment, supplies, concessions; – Must be able to withstand loud noise; Working Environment
