Clinical Assistant Professor of Special Education. We invite applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor of Special Education position in the Department of Special Education and Child Development at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. The Clinical Assistant Professor is a 9-month non-tenure-eligible position. Clinical faculty in the Cato College of Education are eligible for promotion to both Clinical Associate and Clinical Full Professor. The position will begin January 3, 2022 or August 15, 2022 based upon the candidate’s availability. The Special Education Program offers undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs. Undergraduate and graduate coursework is designed to prepare teacher candidates for either initial or advanced licensure in special education. The doctoral program focuses on preparing future researchers, teachers, leaders, and collaborators in diverse contexts.

 

Responsibilities. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses (face-to-face and online) with instructional responsibilities in one or more of the following areas: K-12 mathematics instruction for students with high-incidence disabilities, diagnostic assessment and progress monitoring, instructional planning for diverse learners, and applied behavior analysis; serve on graduate research committees; and provide service to the field, profession, program, department, college, and university.

 

Qualifications. Candidates must hold an earned doctorate in Special Education or a closely related field from an accredited university, have three or more years of successful K-12 teaching experience with students with disabilities, and be eligible for licensure in special education in North Carolina. Candidates must also demonstrate the ability to teach at the college/university level and demonstrate commitment to engaging in professional service. Candidates with edTPA experience and who hold the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) credential are encouraged to apply.
