The West Virginia University Division of Physical Therapy is seeking a temporary, part-time, benefit eligible, non-tenure track, faculty member at the Visiting Instructor rank. This position will contribute to the mission of WVU and the program in Physical Therapy by preparing physical therapy practitioners who have post-professional training and who are prepared to sit for board specialty examination in an advanced practice area of women’s health physical therapy. This position will continue to foster a strong relationship with faculty in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, including program development and clinical care, with practice areas encompassing urogynecology, pelvic pain, pre- and post-partum musculoskeletal issues, and other aspects of women’s health. A majority of time will be directed to the provision of direct patient care in multiple clinic locations. The candidate will contribute to the mission of WVU and the Physical Therapy Program housed within the School of Medicine. Central to this position is the provision of outpatient women’s health specialist pelvic floor physical therapy services in our established interdisciplinary Faculty Practice Clinic.

The physical therapy professional education program at WVU has been consistently accredited since 1970 and has a proud tradition of preparing excellent clinicians. For the last decade, the division has had a faculty member whose primary responsibility is to provide teaching and clinical services in the area of women’s health. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in area(s) of scholarship appropriate to areas of expertise leading to peer-reviewed publications. Active engagement in departmental, university, and professional service activities is also expected.

Qualifications :

Applicants must meet the following criteria for consideration:
Minimum Qualifications:
• Graduate from an accredited physical therapy program
• Licensed (or eligible) to practice as a physical therapist in West Virginia
• Licensed (or eligible) to practice as a physical therapist in Pennsylvania
• Clinical (DPT) doctoral degree

All qualifications must be met by the time of the appointment.

Preferred qualifications are: completion of an accredited residency in women’s health physical therapy, demonstrated classroom/laboratory teaching experience and effectiveness, expertise in clinical practice management, APTA clinical instructor credentials, experience in the following areas: as a clinical instructor, in clinical program development, and in collaboration as part of an inter-professional team.

Responsibilities: Provision of physical therapy outpatient services, student classroom instruction, and lab / research support in collaboration with other faculty (including mentorship and coordination of student research projects). Scholarship and service, in supportive of the Division’s Vision and Mission, are also required.

West Virginia University is a land grant Carnegie-designated Doctoral Research/Extensive institution, with approximately 32,500 students, including 27,000 undergraduate and 5,500 graduate/professional students. The WVU Health Sciences Center includes the Schools of Pharmacy, Medicine, Dentistry, Public Health and Nursing. Patient care facilities include a 575-bed teaching hospital, a Level I trauma center, and a 70-bed psychiatric hospital. Morgantown is within easy traveling distance of Washington, DC, to the east, Pittsburgh, PA, to the north, and Cleveland and Columbus, OH, to the northwest. Morgantown has 55,000 residents and is rated as one of the best small towns in the U.S., with affordable housing, excellent schools, a picturesque countryside and many outdoor activities.
