The Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Student Care & Outreach reports to the Associate Dean for Students. This position is responsible for the overall supervision of the Student Care and Outreach department within the Division of Student Affairs and coordinates the provision of direct services provided through the department. The Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Student Care & Outreach provides students with personal and non-biased assistance in addressing concerns, inquiries, requests, and complaints throughout the university. This position draws upon knowledge of university policies, procedures, programs, and key personnel to help facilitate resolution of issues in a fair and reasonable manner. This position supervises an Assistant Director, three Student Affairs Case Managers. and an Administrative Associate. Additional Requirements
Must have at least five (5) years of directly related work experience and demonstrated leadership within the field of higher education case management.
Minimum of four (4) years of administrative experience in a complex higher education setting working directly with students, staff, parents, alumni, and faculty, or other combination of relevant education and work experience Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification
Knowledge of Advocate (Symplicity) software preferred. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, excellent listening and problem-solving skills; sound judgment; broad understanding of student development theory; ability to work with diverse groups of people; and a broad-based knowledge of the University of Georgia. Duties/Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, review, and supervise the Student Care and Outreach department within the Division of Student Affairs.
a. Coordinate the provision of direct services provided through Student Care & Outreach, to include assisting students seeking hardship withdrawals and students with hardship circumstances requesting support
b. Hire, train, supervise, direct, and evaluate the work of five full-time professional staff members (Assistant Director, Student Affairs Case Managers, and Administrative Associate), who provide direct assistance for students experiencing hardship circumstances
c. Coordinate the management, storage, and retention of student records within an electronic database
d. Review, update, and maintain printed materials and web site related to student care and concern
e. Coordinate the assessment and reporting efforts of Student Care & Outreach for the Division of Student Affairs
f. Coordinate fundraising efforts to enhance private support for departmental initiatives and direct student financial support
g. Coordinate outreach to the campus and local community regarding the services offered through Student Care & Outreach

Percentage Of Time 65 Duties/Responsibilities

• Manage a Campus-wide Case Management Team, an interdisciplinary team from across campus that meets weekly to share information regarding students experiencing complex and difficult circumstances and requiring intervention from multiple university offices or units

Percentage Of Time 10 Duties/Responsibilities

• Coordinate all aspects of the Embark@UGA initiative and serve as the university’s Designated Point of Contact for the Embark program to support students who are homeless and/or have been in the foster care system.

• Serve as a member of the university’s Behavioral Assessment and Response Council ( BARC )

• Serve as a member of the Student Affairs Leadership Team.
• Serve on various appointed divisional and university-wide committees
• Assist with coordination of the university’s annual memorial ceremony
