Job Details

The UF Health Cancer Center (UFHCC) invites applications of interest for a faculty position at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor with a cancer health disparities research focus. We seek to augment our efforts to reduce the cancer burden in our catchment area, with a particular emphasis on determinants of disparities due to race/ethnicity, socioeconomic circumstance, and/or residence in rural communities. This position will join a robust cohort of investigators as part of the UFHCC Cancer Control and Population Sciences (CCPS) research program, led by Dejana Braithwaite, PhD, Associate Director for Population Sciences. The mission of the CCPS program is to reduce the cancer burden and associated risk factors in Northern Florida and beyond.

Areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, cancer screening and early detection, obesity, tobacco, cancer communication, prevention and intervention, dissemination and implementation research. We seek applications from individuals dedicated to:

  • research in the development, evaluation, and dissemination of interventions addressing cancer disparities
  • engagement with community partners
  • training a diverse cadre of future cancer control researchers

The successful candidate will have expertise in community engaged research, multidisciplinary team science, and translation and dissemination of evidence-based research. The research program will integrate into the CCPS program, as well as other scientific programs in the Center.

Academic appointment will be in the appropriate College and Department. Academic rank and tenure status will be commensurate with experience and accomplishment. Compensation includes an excellent benefits package.

Candidates must have a doctoral degree in relevant population sciences fields such as public health, epidemiology, implementation science, behavioral science, or a MD degree with additional research training. Preferred qualifications include a strong record of funded research, peer-reviewed publications in population cancer disparities, evidence of mentorship experience, and demonstration of an established reputation, whether as individual investigators or within a research team, for original ideas, innovations, and contributions.

For appointment to the rank of Associate Professor in the tenure track, the candidate must present evidence of excellent research and recognition of the research program at a national level.
