The NYU School of Professional Studies Schack Institute of Real
Estate (the “Schack Institute”) invites applications for open
part-time adjunct faculty positions that may begin as early as
September 1, 2021. The Schack Institute desires to create a
pool of qualified, vetted and approved adjunct faculty to fill
semester-by-semester teaching needs with distinguished
professionals with broad backgrounds in commercial real estate and
construction.
Real Estate Program teaching opportunities may include the
following course areas: finance and investment, affordable
housing, capital markets, development, law, sustainability, urban
economics, entrepreneurship, and technology.
Construction Management Program teaching opportunities may include
the following course areas: construction methods and
technology, scheduling, project management, P6, cost estimating,
safety management, finance and cost control.
Academic Programs:
The Schack Institute is among the largest and most prestigious
educational entities dedicated to the real estate, real estate
development and construction industries with over 200 students
enrolled in its top-ranked Bachelor of Science degree, and 700
students enrolled in its three Master of Science degrees,
including: the M.S.in Real Estate; the
M.S. in Construction Management; and the M.S.in Real
Estate Development. In addition to these degree programs, the
Schack Institute has over 800 students enrolled across ten
continuing education certificates programs, and open enrollment
professional studies courses.
Teaching Modality:
The Schack Institute seeks engaging, experienced business
professionals to teach part-time courses in both our graduate and
undergraduate degree programs, as well as in our continuing
education and certificate programs. Most courses are taught
in-person on our campus in midtown Manhattan, and some are taught
virtually online. Successful candidates will be consulted on the
particular discipline, degree program, course, and (in-person or
online) teaching modality before each semester upon
appointment.
Requirements:
Ideal candidates will hold a masters degree and have a minimum of
5-8 years progressive work experience; a demonstrable record of
teaching, academic or classroom experience; and significant
industry and professional success, honor and distinction. Well
qualified candidates without prior teaching experience will be
considered.
The Schack Institute of Real Estate:
The Schack Institute was founded in 1967 at the initiative of
prominent members of the New York City real estate community, who
encouraged NYU to establish an academic center that would provide a
world-class education for industry professionals. Nearly 50 years
later, the Schack Institute is at the forefront of real estate
education and is recognized globally as one of the world’s leading
centers of real estate research and pedagogy.
