Job Description:

The Office of Education Advisement and Field Experience (OEAFE) at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Education Professions Coordinator. This is a 12-month, full-time position. Reporting to the Director of the Office of Education Advisement and Field Experience, the Professional Education Services Specialist supports the mission of the OEAFE by providing technical support for educational assessments, advising and monitoring of program requirements in support of students in undergraduate and graduate level education programs leading to New York State Teacher Certification and aiding in coordinating and monitoring student teaching placements.

The Office of Education Advisement and Field Experience provides support for students and faculty in the professional education programs in the areas of clinical practice, New York State Certification requirements, program advisement and accreditation. Duties include but not limited to: serving as the lead advising consultant and liaison with the College's Office of Academic Advisement for the Division of Education, providing advisement support to students and faculty, managing and maintaining a comprehensive data system with consistency and integrity for the Division of Education including technical support for faculty, providing advising consultant services to faculty and students regarding program and accreditation requirements, assisting with student orientation and registration, aiding in the coordination and monitoring of student teaching placements, assisting the Director in gathering and disseminating information regarding New York State Teacher Certification requirements and procedures to faculty and students, conducting advising and certification workshops for students and faculty, responding to requests from Enrollment Management to participate in recruitment events for undergraduate and graduate students, and functioning as a team member of the Office of Education Advisement and Field Experience to provide support for that office as well as the education program as a whole.


Requirements:

Required qualifications: bachelor's degree; excellent organization and communication skills; experience working with technology such as Microsoft 365 (e.g., Excel) and other software.

Preferred: master's degree in education or related area; K-12 teaching experience or experience in a school setting; knowledge of New York State Teacher Certification requirements; professional experience in higher education; and experience working with and serving diverse populations.
