The University of San Francisco (USF) seeks an accomplished leader and professional counselor with a dynamic vision and passion for the mental health and overall wellness of a highly diverse student body to serve as the next Senior Director of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) (Senior Director). After a period of tremendous societal upheavals, this is a tremendous opportunity for a visionary mental health provider to set the stage for innovative approaches to mental health care, outreach, and programming. Further, the Senior Director will join USF as it commits to a holistic vision of health and wellness as part of an overall plan to provide students with a transformational educational experience. The Senior Director will partner closely with thought leaders across campus, including the Associate Vice President/Dean of Students, to develop and execute a strategic vision that will ensure students have access to excellent counseling and support and enhance health and wellness across the USF community.

The Senior Director will be joining a vibrant division of Student Life that supports holistic student development within a social justice framework. The Senior Director will report to and work in close partnership with the Associate Vice President/Dean of Students and will oversee all clinician therapeutic activity, define and disseminate CAPS scope of practice, and promote CAPS services to the campus community. The Senior Director will be a thought leader who will shape the role to improve university mental health, innovate, and increase accessibility for USF students. To lead the CAPS unit, the Senior Director will address a set of key opportunities and challenges:

• Develop a strategic, cohesive vision for CAPS at USF;
• Lead a well-integrated unit that provides care representing best practices in university mental health outreach, programming, and services;
• Lead a multidisciplinary, culturally-competent, and team-oriented staff;
• Support continuous growth and innovation in CAPS; and
• Promote and maintain an engaged visibility with the division of Student Life and across the university.
