Job Summary
The University of Texas at Tyler invites applicants for a non-tenure-track appointment for an Assistant Professor of Practice starting Fall 2021. This is a full-time position with a nine-month academic year appointment.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks
- Teach 5 courses in teacher education and reading. Three (3) reading courses, one of which will be offered at Kilgore College beginning Fall 2021 and two (2) education courses.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Education/Experience
- Master’s degree in reading or at least 18 graduate hours in reading.
- A minimum of three years of teaching experience in PreK-12 school settings.
- Doctorate in reading preferred.
- University teaching experience with face-to-face, hybrid, and online instruction preferred.
- Experience with mentoring/coaching teachers preferred.
Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
- Demonstrate expertise in teacher education and reading.
- Teach a mix of hybrid, online, and face-to-face courses.

Additional Information
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
