Job Summary

The Children's Center, within the Division of Student Affairs encourages applications for a Child Care Aid/ Floater . This position will provide childcare for children of families affiliated with the University of Colorado including; residents of Family Housing Apartments, faculty, staff, students, and alumni. The Children’s Center is licensed through the Colorado Department of Social Services, and is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

Who We Are

The Children's Center has been serving the University of Colorado Boulder community since it first opened its doors in 1975. The beginning days of the center served preschool aged children, but later grew to include the toddler program that we offer today. From the very beginning we have made it a mission to care for a diverse group of children while giving parents a childcare option that is both safe and reliable.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Health and Safety, Aides in providing a safe environment by: inspecting and communicating to ECE I, II or the director the condition of indoor/outdoor materials and equipment. Teaches safety precautions and regulations to classroom children. Maintains health standards following procedures for food preparation, diapering, medication administration, etc. Remains current on certifications including CPR, First Aid, UP, Child Abuse, and Medication Administration.
  • Child Supervision, Under the guidance of ECE I and/or II, supervises and interacts with children in the classroom by implementing age appropriate planned activities such as music, art, math, language, science, movement, dramatic play, and spontaneous or multicultural activities. Uses appropriate guidance techniques under the direction of ECE I and/or II. Provides time regularly to ECE I and/or II to allow for planning time, meetings, breaks, vacations, illness and other tasks away from the classroom.
  • Communication, Maintains channels of communication with teaching teams and office in an effective manner. Develops good relationships with parents by communicating in a friendly manner at drop off and pick up time. Refers parents to ECE I or II when vital. Maintains confidentiality in all communication. Completes written reports as vital including notes, accident reports, attendance, etc.
  • Professionalism, Assures continual professional growth by attending staff in-services, workshops, and conferences. Completes all department required trainings and 15 hours of licensing training requirements. Keeps training log up-to-date. Demonstrates flexibility in working with different teams, and handling a variety of situations.

What We Can Offer

Starting salary is $15.50/hr - $16.50/hr.

  • Applicant must be 18 years of age or older.

What You Will Need
  • Ability to provide a high quality environment nurturing a diverse population of children ages 6 weeks through age five.

What We Would Like You To Have
  • Experience working with small groups of young children unrelated to applicant. Desire to take Early Childhood Education trainings.
