Job Description:

The School of Sciences and Engineering at the American University in Cairo has an opening for a faculty position within its Department of Construction Engineering at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the area of Structural Engineering starting Fall 2022 or until the position is filled.

The successful candidate must have extensive experience in the field of structural engineering and possess exemplary teaching skills. She/he is expected to be active and capable of developing research in the considered area and provide services in her/his field of specialization. The candidate will be required to undertake academic duties that include teaching, performing quality research and serving on different departmental, school and university committees. She/he is expected to teach undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in the areas of structural analysis, structural mechanics, design of steel and concrete structures, structural dynamics and seismic engineering. She/he is expected to conduct research and attract research grants in her/his field of specialty and supervise graduate research in advanced structural design, structural modeling and mechanics; earthquake engineering and structural dynamics, and innovative structural system and materials.

Requirements:

Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in Structural or Civil Engineering. She/he should have a demonstrated track record of teaching and research in the areas of structural engineering. A solid record of professional practical experience and established record in attracting funded research and scholarship is highly desirable. A Professional Engineer (PE) status in North America is an asset.
