Job Summary:
Provides instruction, support services, outreach, and other professional contributions aligned with the mission and strategic goals of the College and Academic Affairs Unit. Develops, implements, and maintains currency of courses, programs, and curricula in assigned program/discipline. Creates an innovation and engaging learning environment.

Essential Functions:
1. Designs and delivers effective instruction as assigned through traditional, online, and hybrid formats, using approved course outlines and procedures approved by the College Curriculum Council. 2. Advises students within an academic discipline and holds posted office hours, as required by the faculty contract. 3. In collaboration with departmental colleagues, designs/selects and implements appropriate assessment of student learning at the course and program level. 4. Assists program chair in developing class schedules and department budget, when appropriate. 5. In collaboration with program chair, selects and orders all course textbooks and disseminates supplemental materials in a timely fashion. 6. Submits contract, grades, and other required paperwork within prescribed timelines. 7. Assists program chair in orienting and mentoring new full-time and part-time faculty, as needed. 8. Actively contributes to the College’s governance by serving on committees, task forces, or through special assignments as approved by the Provost & Vice President of Academic Affairs. 9. Attends departmental, divisional, and college-wide meetings, as scheduled. 10. Recommends equipment and software needs to the program chair and Academic Dean. 11. Develops and maintains relationships with appropriate external constituencies (e.g. area high schools, community agencies, advisory committees). 12. Works with Student Services to develop enrollment targets, recruitment and retention strategies, and student life activities. 13. Collaborates with instructional administration in conducting program/discipline area reviews and other continuous improvement activities in teaching and learning, including periodic curriculum reviews. 14. Effectively integrates the use of instructional technology in instruction, when appropriate. 15. Remains current in the discipline taught as well as in current trends in teaching methodologies. 16. Participates in graduation exercises. 17. Contributes positively to collegial decision-making and climate within the College’s academic community. 18. Maintains the highest ethical standards in relationships with all constituencies, research activities, and all business dealings with and on behalf of the College.

Other Duties:
19. Performs other duties as assigned.

Accountabilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Academic Dean, faculty members are responsible for providing quality instruction, continuous program improvement, and academic support services. Interacts with Registrar, Financial Aid, and other college personnel to promote and achieve student success. May supervise paraprofessional and/or student employees.

Job Specifications:
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required. Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) preferred. Michigan Nursing License and minimum of two-years of professional nursing experience required. Specialty in Fundamentals, Pharmacology and Medical Surgical nursing preferred. Two years of teaching experience preferred. This is a twelve (12) month position. OTHER HIGHLY DESIRED QUALITIES: Commitment to the value of diversity and the free and open exchange of ideas; student success; technically competent particularly in the area of instructional technology, online/remote instruction, and technology based assessment practices; knowledgeable and committed to the mission and purposes of community colleges.
