Overview
Reporting to the Executive Director of Alumni Engagement, the Director of Career Development and Professional Networking works independently and in collaboration with members of the Division of University Advancement and numerous campus partners to identify and engage alumni and other university constituents to help grow the Catholic University network. This position will play a critical role in our mission of connecting alumni with each other and back to the campus through career development and professional networking opportunities.

This individual will build a robust Cardinal Network that will focus on supporting alumni and students. S/He will be a connection point between the Center for Academic and Career Success (CACS) and alumni. Working collaboratively with CACS and other campus partners this individual will help manage an online mentorship platform. S/He will develop engaging programming that helps connect alumni with each other and the university. S/He will launch a C-suite group in our key markets (Baltimore, Boston, D.C., Philadelphia and New York).

S/He will manage an online professional development webinar series. This individual will explore and potentially launch industry alumni networks. The Director will work with our school partners to launch Book Clubs and explore the potential of launching a podcast series.

S/He will be responsible for managing an online mentorship platform with CACS.

S/He will communicate the values and mission of The Catholic University of America to alumni and friends through face-to-face meetings, online video calls, phones calls, and written correspondence.

Some travel is required with up to 35% of the time spent outside the office visiting with alumni and friends of the university. Visits mostly consist of travel in the DMV area and East Coast with potential travel to the Midwest, West Coast, and South.

S/He may have supervisory responsibilities added to their portfolio.

Responsibilities
• In collaboration with CACS manage the online mentorship platform. Ensuring alumni and students are actively using the platform and forming meaningful connections. Working with the Advancement Services team to ensure data is flowing accurately between the online mentorship platform and our internal database. Identifying potential donors and prospects, by analyzing usage on the online mentorship platform, and sharing those names with prospect research and gift officers.
• Create engaging career development and professional networking programming that is appealing to alumni across disciplines and ages.
• Manage a monthly virtual professional development series. Work with gift officers and colleagues across campus to put on engaging content that highlights alumni and faculty members.
• Launch and manage C-suite groups in our key markets (Baltimore, Boston, D.C., Philadelphia, and New York)
• Explore and potentially launch industry alumni networks
• Develop and implement a Career Week for alumni and students. In collaboration with CACS, develop an internship program.
• Utilize Raiser's Edge database to document communications, visits, and other relevant information about donor and prospect moves management.
• Effectively communicate results of contacts to appropriate Advancement and University staff.
• Have input and responsibility for the planning of Cardinal Weekend activities and other university events as needed.
• Attend University events and functions, including but not limited to Cardinal Weekend and Commencement weekends, representing the Division of University Advancement as necessary and appropriate.
• Explore the need and value of launching a podcast series

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with at least seven (7) years of experience working in alumni relations, event management, career development/professional networking, or related field; preferably in higher education. Experience working with volunteer management, alumni relations, or event management is desirable.

Technical Qualification:
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Google for Education, and ability to learn new software programs and functions including donor database and online community.
Possession of current and valid U.S. driver's license appropriate to the type of university vehicle and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Driving Record (MVR) as stipulated in the Vehicle Guidelines and Procedures Manual administered through the office of Environmental Health and Safety. Annual clearance of MVR check through the Office of Environmental Health and Safety.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Needed:
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to handle deadline pressure and flexibility to pivot when needed. Detail-oriented, ability to multitask, excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to motivate volunteers and colleagues.
• Experience working with a data management platform.
• Self-starter that can work independently and in a team.
• Experience managing online platforms and ability to create and manage events.
• Constituent-focused and able to work with minimal supervision. Creativity and initiative required.
• The ability to drive a vehicle (campus or non-campus) on behalf of university business.
