Position Summary:

Under general supervision, the incumbent will serve as the Anesthesiology Department receptionist located in the UWMF Centennial Building Anesthesiology offices. The incumbent will provide administrative support to Anesthesiology faculty to further their clinical, education, research and administrative missions. In addition, provide administrative support to respective Anesthesiology faculty leadership, including, but not limited to Associate Directors, Medical Directors, and Board Runners. Provide backup support to department events coordinator in hosting educational programs and courses, and miscellaneous office support.

The Department of Anesthesiology is comprised of 95 faculty, 62 residents and fellows, 75 clinical anesthetists, and approximately 45 research, administrative, and support staff. The Anesthesiology Department provides clinical care to UW Hospital and Clinics (UWHC) in-patient main operating rooms, the Outpatient Surgical Center (OSC), and the Ambulatory Procedure Center (APC), the American Family Children's Hospital (AFCH) operating rooms; and associated post-anesthesia care units (PACU); Digestive Health Center, The American Center Hospital, three outside ambulatory facilities: Madison Surgery Center (MSC), Transformations Cosmetic Surgery Center (TSC), and Generations; and Madison Surgery Center Interventional Pain Management, and the Pain Clinic-East.

Required Qualifications:
- Medical terminology or experience in working in a medical office environment.
- Ability to demonstrate good organizational skills and interpersonal skills with all interactions, UW Hospital staff, Madison Surgery Center staff, visitors, coworkers, patients and their family members.
- Typing skills required.
- Knowledge of PC computer/Windows.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Ability to maintain a professional manner at all times and provide excellent customer service, including knowledge of and adherence to institution policies and procedures, including HIPAA and patient confidentiality.
- Ability to handle sensitive issues and always maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
