Position Summary

Trinity College seeks to hire a Summit Fellow for Retention Strategy and Transition Programs for a two-year position. Summit Fellows work to advance particular strategic goals and initiatives, as well as support College-wide implementation of Trinity’s bicentennial strategic plan, “Summit.” The Summit Fellow for Retention Strategy and Transition Programs will report to the Director of Retention Strategy and Transition Programs and work to help improve Institutional understanding of student experience data and further institutional support of students’ navigating transitions. Work includes intentional focus on strategies and programs to support under-represented students within the larger student body, including those who identify as BIPOC, First Generation and/or ‘non-traditional.’ As a member of the retention ecosystem, this Summit Fellow will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from the Career and Life Design Center, Office of Analytics and Strategic Initiatives, and peer Summit Fellows on a variety of projects to help identify barriers to student success and develop proactive initiatives to promote student retention leading to degree completion at Trinity College.

Primary Areas of Responsibility include:
  • Proficiently interact with data, presentation, email, and other institutional software
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative data analysis to mobilize retention narratives
  • Populate and monitor data rosters and validate quality and integrity
  • Conduct robust literature research and prepare reports/presentations on industry innovations
  • Develop and recommend interventions for improved student engagement
  • Collaborate on creation and pilot of student stakeholders’ teams and facilitate focus groups
  • Collect and analyze qualitative experience data through direct contact with students in critical transitions: LOAs, return from withdrawal, and exit interviews
  • Participate in appropriate training sessions
Qualifications

Fellows must have successfully earned an undergraduate degree in any field within the last 3 years, preferably from a liberal arts college. They must be agile, creative, and passionate about the liberal arts experience and Trinity’s mission and strategic goals. Ideal candidates will have a proven track record of being highly collaborative and committed to inclusiveness, demonstrated experience in quantitative analysis, and an interest in thinking innovatively about the future of higher education.

Other desired qualifications include:
  • Proficiency of relevant software applications including MS Office
  • Proficiency in creative problem-solving and customer relations
  • Ability to positively interact with colleagues and customers from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to the team environment
  • Organizational skills with an attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated proficiency with and affinity for mathematics
  • Experience with quantitative data analysis (using Tableau, Excel, SPSS, SQL, and/or Access)
Compensation
Summit Fellows will receive a competitive salary, health insurance, and access to professional development opportunities. Fellows who choose to enroll in one of the college’s graduate programs are eligible for tuition remission.
