Summary/Objective

This Project Manager is responsible for project managing the planning, execution, and implementation of the approved WAMU Workplace Culture Task Force recommendations. This Task Force, made up of staff from across the station, made strategic workplace culture recommendations to improve WAMU’s organizational practices in the following areas: culture; diversity, equity, and inclusion; cross departmental collaboration and communication; and the connection between WAMU and American University. This position will help implement these recommendations over the next 18-24 months by designing and executing a disciplined project and change management approach that uses best practices and techniques from project management, change management, and a workflow software tool application. This position will work with a diverse array of stakeholders across WAMU and the University on this high-priority and very visible effort. This position is a temporary full-time position with an initial 18-month appointment that may be extended to up to 24 months depending on project implementation needs.

Essential Functions
  1. Manage various Task Force projects and successfully deliver on project/business objectives, working with the WAMU Leadership Team, WAMU managers and AU stakeholders.
  2. Support key leadership team members from across WAMU in identifying, prioritizing, and implementing objectives as part of the approved Task Force recommendations through effective project and change management.
  3. Support the Task Force implementation team and staff groups on implementing the workstreams of the plan, including through development and implementation of various project plans.
  4. Identify issues and use problem-solving skills (including root cause analysis) to resolve issues in a timely manner. Help to break down complex issues into discrete components to analyze, diagnose, assess, and assist in recommending viable solutions.
  5. Document, manage & report on a tightly integrated project schedule across multiple workstreams, always focused on the critical path.
  6. Develop implementation schedule for the entire effort, project schedules, including generating/maintaining project dashboards, reporting KPI’s, risk/action logs and other artifacts.
  7. Generate documentation for necessary meetings, track delivery of follow-ups & outcomes.
  8. Develop written reports and other project updates and presentations.
  9. Facilitate communication between project team members, WAMU leadership and AU leadership.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Work experience in project management, business management, finance, accounting, or information technology.


Preferred Education and Experience
  • Master's degree (Master’s Business Administration preferred)
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience
  • Experience supporting complex projects.
  • Experience with project management software and business software (i.e., advanced excel)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

  • Possess excellent knowledge of standard best practices and processes in project management
  • Identify and obtain resources such as materials, staffing, and vendors needed to successfully complete the project
  • Prioritize resource allocation based upon project needs, timelines, and complexity
  • Report progress and promptly update timelines, milestones, and other aspects of projects
