Job Summary: Visiting Assistant Professor in
Interior Design – Full-Time, Non-Tenure Track, One academic-year
contract. Start Date– August 16,
The Department of Art and Design at Purdue University is seeking
a visiting assistant professor with expertise in Interior Design to
teach up to four courses per semester (or equivalent) in the CIDA
accredited Bachelor of Fine Arts professional degree and Master of
Fine Arts Interior Design programs, from the following: Design
technology and communication, graphic presentation, environmental
behavior, sustainability, foundational studio instruction and to
supervise TAs in teaching Introduction to Interior Design and
design communication. Other duties include: advising and mentoring
of undergraduate and graduate students; review of portfolios and
resumes; liaising with student and professional organizations; and
serving on area committees.
Qualifications: Required qualifications include
a graduate degree (MFA, or Doctorate) in Interior Design or related
field, and professional experience, or an equivalent combination of
teaching and professional experience in Interior Design. At least
two years of successful university-level teaching in design; an
active record of creative professional work and/technical work
related to the specialty; NCIDQ certification, LEED
accreditation, and/or membership in a professional design
organization is preferred.
Candidates must have the ability to work in the U.S. without
immigration sponsorship from Purdue University.
Department: The Department of Art and
Design is one of four academic units (including Theater, Dance, and
Music) in the Patti and Rusty Rueff School of Design, Art, and
Performance at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. The
Interior Design program is one of seven programs in Art and
Design, has approximately 100 undergraduate majors, and a
three-year Master of Fine Arts program. The Department is housed in
Yue-Kong Pao Hall of Visual and Performing Arts. The Interior
Design program is accredited by the National Association of Schools
of Art and Design and the Council for Interior Design
