Position Summary

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Program Manager provides operational management of the Tamer Center for Social Enterprise and also works closely with the Reentry Acceleration Program and Pangea Advisors. S/he is responsible for working with the officers, faculty and researchers of the Center in their various functions. S/he works independently on projects and assists the Center faculty and staff in organizing, managing, and implementing projects and activities.

Responsibilities

  1. Manage the planning and execution of programming including: Center events for students, including the alumni breakfast series, student and staff retreats, faculty and staff meetings, research forums; work with staff and student club leaders to align student programming and assist with clubs kickoff, club leadership strategy meetings and student leader transition processes.

  2. Manage processes for the Center’s reentry acceleration teaching initiative, working with faculty, staff, students and external organizations. This includes; working with prison partners and reentry nonprofits, managing the MBA/EMBA and incarcerated prospective students application and volunteer approval processes, operational requirements for the REAP teaching processes inside Correctional Facilities, and planning and execution for business forum activities focused on hiring practices of the formerly incarcerated, if requested.
  3. Identify speakers for and develop student speaker events, support social impact week and student summer fellowship auction, including managing pre-event and post-event production tasks. Independently work with vendors on operational requirements and manage the payment process, working closely with the Financial Planning Office.
  4. Responsible for travel risk management processes for Pangea Advisors and ensuring compliance with the university’s global travel policies. Manages travel and expense reimbursements for faculty, staff, speakers and students including for Pangea Advisor projects; ensure expenses allocated to correct accounts and align to a set budget; develop reporting on the impact of Pangea projects on student learning for donors and prospective student audiences.
  5. Manages and maintains the Center’s contact database and understands how to effectively use the web based system. Proof reads and edits letters, invitations, emails and other communication materials for external audiences.

  6. Manages the daily office operations of the Center and addresses faculty, researchers and officer needs with ITG and Operations.
  7. Communicates with prospective students and external constituents on behalf of the Center; Contributes as a pro-active team member to special projects with other staff as needed.
  8. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and/or its equivalent required. Minimum 2 years related experience required.

Must be an efficient, detail-oriented team player, able to work cooperatively in a group as well as independently.  Ability to work with and accurately estimate deadlines and juggle competing priorities. Must have excellent communication, grammar and writing skills. Computer proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite programs. Basic knowledge or willingness to learn HTML and Adobe Creative Suite an advantage.  Must be able to exercise tact and discretion when interacting with faculty, administrators, and students. Must have valid NY driver license and good driving record/ability to obtain a Zipcar membership. Must be able to be approved by the NY State Department of Corrections and Supervision to work inside facilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of or interest in an academic environment is preferable.
