Instructional Technologist

Elon University is currently accepting applications for an Instructional Technologist. The position is part of an instructional technology team that supports the mission of the university by working with faculty and staff to identify and apply modern instructional technologies to advance Elon’s model of student and learning-centered higher education and to enhance and support strategic campus initiatives.

The position provides expert guidance in the application of instructional technologies and provides consulting, training, and support in the use of both existing and emerging technologies. Additionally, the Instructional Technologist for Learning Technology Support focuses on advancing the university’s learning management system (LMS), and provides technology expertise, guidance and support for connected tools, plugins and software as a service (SaaS). The position works closely with the instructional technology team to support faculty and staff through consultations, group trainings and quick help. This position is also responsible for supervision of student staff, who serve as the entry point for support. This is an on-campus position.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree required in Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Media, Instructional Technology, Instructional Design or similar field.
  • Two to four years of work experience in these areas, preferably in a higher education environment. The successful candidate must have a
  • demonstrated knowledge of supporting an LMS, instructional technology tools and their use in teaching and learning.
  • Requires outstanding communication and consultative skills and must be able to apply these skills with faculty and staff at all educational levels.
  • Must be detail-oriented, have excellent time management and organizational skills, and be able to effectively lead and execute projects and initiatives.
  • Must be able to work both independently and be a team player.
  • Must have a demonstrated broad knowledge of instructional technology tools and their use in teaching and learning.
  • A patient nature and the ability to work well with others needed.
  • Must be comfortable leading training sessions and speaking in front of large groups.
  • Must be able to work with frequent interruptions, manage multiple tasks/projects, and learn independently.
  • Must understand copyright, fair use, accessibility, universal design and learning analytics, and their applications in teaching and learning.
