We are seeking to hire a full-timeResearch Assistant to assist with the day-to-day logistical and operational tasks for various research studies for a multidisciplinary work-group, headed by Drs. Josef Coresh and Morgan Grams.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Will assist Drs. Coresh and Grams and other faculty with IRB submissions and data management.
  • Additional responsibilities may include literature reviews and assisting with manuscript preparation, slides, talks as well as oversight and monitoring of study protocols.
  • Will assist with preparation of data for reports and presentations.
  • Assistance with development of grants and progress reports.
  • May be involved in some basic data analysis.
  • Maintains files in an organized manner, especially regarding the management of the data network drive.

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline required.
  • Some related experience required.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must be comfortable working with deadlines and under pressure.
  • Must be comfortable working with a variety of communication styles.
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively independently and as part of a team.

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent time management skills and experience managing multiple projects/tasks with conflicting deadlines.
  • Must have well developed organizational skills, advanced communication skills, and excellent problem-solving skills.

Technical Qualifications/Specialized Certifications:

  • Must have demonstrable experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Starting Salary Range: $16.26 - $22.35/hr (commensurate with experience)

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
