Under the supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer, the Assistant Athletic Trainer will assist in prevention, recognition, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of student-athlete injuries. He/she will participate in program organization, and will assist in the supervision and education of work-study students.

Education/Skills Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited athletic training or internship program is required; a Master’s in a related field of Sports Medicine is preferred. Applicants must possess superior oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact well with student athletes and to function well independently and be an active member of the athletic training team. CPR / FPR / AED / SFA certification (instructor certification preferred) required; Maine State ATC license is required when NATABOC certification is complete; Knowledge of NCAA regulations and certification by the National Athletic Trainer’s Association preferred.

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents

A minimum of 3 years’ athletic training experience in a collegiate setting is required.

Standard Work Days and Hours

This is a ten-month position. General working hours are 10:00 am to 7:00 pm with some variation to be determined by sport covered, and evenings and weekends as needed to cover home/away practices and games. Travel with student teams and extended hours required on occasion.
