The Quality Assurance Specialist position is required to ensure that stakeholders and students expectations for issue-free courses are met. Additionally, conducting quality analysis on all courses produced by the CODL will reduce the number of issues and errors made during design/development, eliminating the high costs associated with redeveloping and republishing courses or elements of courses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and three (3) plus years of experience required.

• Understanding the importance of and appreciation for supporting students required.

• Strong team player skills required.

• Experience performing QA strongly preferred.

• Familiarity with using technology in an educational setting.

• Higher education experience preferred.

• Familiarity with accessibility standards and their application preferred.

Job Specific Qualifications

The Quality Assurance Specialist must have the following skills and competencies:
• Analytical skills required to gather and interpret data, to spot trends, and notice outliers.
• Organizational skills required to track testing, results, documentation, and recommendations.
• Excellent written communication skills required to create concise and accurate written documentation; to review and interpret internal and external guidance and write process documentation and procedural information.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to brief faculty and staff on quality systems and procedures, and to work closely with production staff to find and adjust errors in the processes.
• Keen attention to detail required to spot when processes fail to comply with guidance and provide alternative suggestions.
• Critical/logical thinking necessary to identify problems and to provide solutions to ensure efficiency and quality of the course production process.

Responsibilities

• Conduct quality audits on video recorded content; proof and test online course videos against alpha and beta versions; follow scripted guidelines and editorial comments made by subject matter experts and Instructional Designers to ensure a high level of quality and consistency among courses.

• Facilitate captioning of videos in Kaltura and rendering asynchronous content (all files) accessible for all courses.

• Collaborate with Lead QA Specialist to continually refine and evaluate content for efficiencies in the production process and provide feedback to the design team; listen critically to recorded lecture materials by subject matter experts, review content in the LMS and refer to planning documents to ensure adherence to program and course requirements.
