Position Title Special Assistant to the Head Coach Overview

Assist the Head Coach with responsibilities and engagements. Make appearances at functions in place of or in conjunction with the Head Coach. Mentor current student athletes off the court in areas such as academic, social media, and community engagement. Act as a resource for the student athletes and the Athletic department in the areas of student athlete development and DEI .

Essential Duties:

1. Building meaningful and lasting off the court relationships with student-athletes by having consistent meetings and spending time with student-athletes. Attend weekly Academic Meetings with OAS alongside the Director of Basketball Operations in order to aid in academic support programs. In conjunction with the Social Media Coordinator, assist in monitoring current student-athletes social media accounts and provide direction. Aid in on-campus check-ins on student-athletes, including class and dorm checks.

2. In conjunction with the Head and Assistant Coaches, breakdown video for game scouting, internal practice self-scouting, recruiting, and player development.

3. Attend on and off-campus functions with the Head Coach. Assist with preparation for all public events, including reviewing itinerary and preparation of speaking materials prior to appearance. Ensure that the Coach is able to stay on schedule. At times, attend functions in place of the Head Coach.

4. Become an active member of the department, campus, and league-wide DEI work groups. Assist in creating DEI initiatives and support for Men’s Basketball student-athletes.

5. Provide support for both on- and off-campus recruiting. Process compliance paperwork. Develop visit itineraries and participate in visits along with coaching staff. Aid in campus tours, meals, and social events for visits. Assist in creating a social media game plan for reaching recruits and their families/support systems. Assist in monitoring social media accounts of PSA’s to ensure they meet the values of the College. Gather tournament schedules and use recruiting software to aid recruiting staff members while they are traveling.

6. Travel ahead of official team party for each road trip to ensure that all logistics on the ground are ready for team arrival. Meet team hotel contact and pick-up all team keys prior to group arrival. Ensure that team meeting space is set properly and re-confirm all meal times and A/V needs. Meet team bus driver ahead of time and accompany bus to airport to pick-up the team at correction location.

Marginal Duties:

1. Perform all other duties as may be required.

Education and Experience Required

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required
• Two to three years’ experience working with a collegiate or professional basketball or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Knowledge of various social media platforms
• Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, particularly in the social media and recruiting areas.
• Strong computer skills, including Excel, Work, and Teamworks
• Valid driver’s license required
