Position Summary:

Recreation & Wellbeing at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking a dynamic, energetic, goal-oriented, and innovative leader within the field of higher education and collegiate recreation. Reporting directly to the Director of Recreation & Wellbeing, this position helps lead Recreation & Wellbeing at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a premier Big 10 university with an enrollment of 45,000 students and a national and international reputation for educational excellence and cutting-edge research. Recreation & Wellbeing manages multiple indoor recreational facilities with space totaling nearly 600,000+ square feet--including the new $87.5M Nicholas Recreation Center and the design of a $110M replacement of the current Natatorium. Use of these facilities totals approximately 1.3 million participants annually. In addition, the division manages 64 acres of outdoor space, which is used primarily for intramural sports and sport club programs as well as providing outdoor space for informal use by the campus community. This position provides leadership, visioning, and management of these facilities and its employees, while heavily focusing on everything that encompasses the delivery of all capital and master plan facility projects. Degree and Area of Specialization:

Master's degree in recreation, sports administration, higher education, or related field is required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

A minimum of 5 years of full-time professional experience that include a broad range of facility management, operations, aquatics, special events, maintenance, custodial, and recreation facility planning. A minimum of 5 years supervising full-time professional staff is required. Demonstrated leadership, strong communication, and problem-solving skills are essential to the successful candidate, as are competencies in recruitment, supervision, and evaluation of both salaried and hourly staff.
