Syracuse University Global requires an Executive Director of the Center for Online and Digital Learning to serve a senior leadership role in Syracuse University Global mission to provide access to high quality, highly engaging educational opportunities across a diverse and global population of non-/post-traditional learners. The Executive Director serves as a senior member of the Syracuse University Global leadership team and oversees the strategic position and trajectory of the Center for Online and Digital Learning.

Qualifications

• PhD or EdD in Learning Sciences or Instructional Design, or related field required.

• Ten (10) plus years of experience leading digital content development and management, assessment, and outcomes measurement in higher education.

• Five (5) plus years in a strategic leadership role in higher education.

• Experience working for an Online Program Management company highly desirable.

• Experience teaching and developing curriculum in higher education.

• Demonstrated experience leading teams in evolving and rapidly changing online course and program production environments.

• Documented success using research-based approaches to designing and implementing new online and digital learning initiatives and processes.

Job Specific Qualifications

• Proven success leading instructional design, development, and production initiatives.

• Experience in evaluation, assessment and recommendation of educational related products and systems.

• Strong familiarity with advanced media production and processes that ensure accurate, high-quality, and pedagogically-sound deliverables.

• Fluent in a variety of learning platforms.

• Ability to manage multiple projects that are complex in nature, involve different cross-functional teams and are broad in scope.

• Ability to adapt and embrace change.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

• Data and research driven, systems thinker who can generate and execute ideas at strategic and tactical levels.

• Thrives in a fast-paced environment, integrating disparate activities, new technologies, and agendas while adhering to deadlines and budgets.

• Instinctive collaborator with staff management experience who values teamwork and the input of others.

• Creative visionary with a passion for learning and professional development and the ability to clearly articulate ideas and concepts.

Responsibilities

• Identify, assess, and implement changes in instructional design, development and evaluation research and practice.

• Recruit, lead and guide the incorporation of learning theories (pedagogy and andragogy) that promote student success and learning cognition, including the incorporation of cognitive, as well as non-cognitive and 21st century skills into innovative approaches.

• Leverage learning science to address instructional challenges and create environments that enable robust learning.

• Serve as the senior leader on large-scale instructional design and development initiatives.

• Implement and assess developing platforms that drive sustainable, scalable, and research-driven learning innovation, recommending, evaluating, and maintaining the use of learning management system and learning environments that ensures effective learning outcomes.

• Provide leadership in the design of research-based pilots and iterative design and partner with a cross-functional team.

• Collaborate with senior staff on various strategic initiatives.

• Maintain knowledge of instructional technologies and latest training and development research by attending workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks participating in professional societies, publishing in industry journals.

• Identify trends and implement new technologies and methodologies for teaching and learning in business and in higher education overall especially among our peer institutions.

• Oversee and direct all activities related to planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of online and digital educational product creation.

• Lead a team accountable for overall planning, implementation, and effectiveness of digital content, online course, programs, and educational engagements.

• Inform and oversee product roadmap for new online programs and initiative.

• Research, assess and implement delivery and development solutions using a variety of media.

• Assess and implement iterative product development methodologies.

• Establish high levels of quality, accuracy, and process consistency in the development and implementation of learning innovations.

• Develop, implement, and evaluate operating budget.

• Collaborate in the negotiation of contracts around services with vendors for world-class service.

• Oversee implementations of third-party content integrations and services.

• Foster a culture and framework of innovation and excellence.

• Ensure ongoing compliance and maintenance of ADA Policies and Procedures and other external requirements and guidelines.

• Serve as liaison to assigned campus and external committees, task forces, and volunteers.
