Job Summary

The Program Director fosters reciprocal and sustainable educational partnerships with high schools and develops, implements, and promotes these partnerships and related activities to ensure that high school students successfully transition to JCCC and school district level staff continue to support new programming and initiatives.

The Program Director will provide collaborative leadership to high school partners and develop positive working relationships with faculty and staff across JCCC departments and divisions to ensure Career Ready Program responsiveness, transparency, and consistency; create and maintain positive working relationships with area high school personnel, JCCC faculty and staff, parents, and students; maintain current Career Ready Programs and promote program growth by cultivating relationships with additional JCCC departments and school districts.

The Program Director will make oral presentations to community members, students, parents, counselors, and professional colleagues at various gatherings—Conduct workshops to provide specialized information related to Career Ready Partnerships, Advanced Standing Credit, and other CTE related topics, and represent the college at K-12, community, and business sponsored events to promote college programming for the Early College Department.

The Program Director is responsible for developing and reviewing career and technical education articulation agreements between JCCC and area high schools and creating opportunities to engage students through Advanced Standing Credit–Annually, the program director will meet with JCCC faculty and secondary partners to review and refine 100+ current CTE articulation agreements, initiate new CTE agreements, and assess the efficacy of the Advanced Standing Credit process.

The Program Director organizes and executes recruitment and retention activities for career and technical education students--Collaborates with JCCC Admissions Office, the JCCC Co-Lab Staff, Chairs from all CTE disciplines to offer high school CTE student recruitment and retention activities. Works with JCCC administrators, faculty, and staff to ensure persistence strategies are developed and implemented.

The Program Director serves as the institutional contact for STEM initiatives and coordinate opportunities with internal and external stakeholders as needed and plans, administers, manages, and monitors budgets for the Career Ready Partnerships, career pathways articulation, and CTE student outreach activities as well as supervises, trains, and evaluates assigned staff.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree

Experience developing partnerships and cooperative arrangements

Experience planning, organizing, and hosting student related activities

Understanding of the goals of concurrent enrollment and career and technical education in a community college setting

Understanding of secondary/community college partnerships related to the Governor’s CTE Initiative (SB 155)

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team environment

Demonstrated ability to work with multiple deans/directors/departments and interface with senior level leadership as needed

Willingness to travel to school districts in the Johnson County/Metro area and to Lawrence/Douglas County as needed.

Proficiency w/Excel, Word, and other software packages necessary for developing and submitting reports/documents.
