The Department of Elementary and Special Education in the College of Education invites applications and nominations for the position of Visiting Instructor of Elementary and Special Education (Dual Certification). The home campus for this position will be the Statesboro campus.

Position Description. Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Elementary and Special Education, the one-year Visiting Instructor of Dual Certification position requires teaching undergraduate courses in elementary education and special education fields; supervising field-based experiences; working in partnerships with area schools; modeling effective teaching practices; using instructional technology; and performing service within the department, college, University, and community. The position is a 10-month, non-tenure-track appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:
  • Earned master's degree in Elementary Education, Special Education, or a closely related field by August 1, 2021
  • Minimum of three years of full-time teaching experience with PK-5 students in general and/or special education environments
  • Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives.
  • Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of employment without assistance from the institution.

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in the supervision of student teachers, practicum students, and/or mentorship role of novice teachers
  • Minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in special education coursework
  • Experience teaching undergraduate courses
  • Experience teaching PK-5 students with disabilities
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in using technology in instruction
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Experience with co-teaching
