Student Development Director
Job Description
The Student Development Director is responsible for planning, implementing and assessing services and activities designed to enhance the social, cultural and intellectual vitality of campus life; stimulating school spirit; developing an appreciation of diversity; and strengthening the overall quality of campus life and the sense of community both on and off campus. This position works alongside the Center for Diversity & Inclusion, oversees the Center for Student Involvement, and supervises the Non-Traditional/Commuter Student Center and an Administrative Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
• Directs Student Life and Leadership programs, services, activities, and budgets including, but not limited to, Registered Student Organizations, Special Events (such as Family Day/Weekend and Homecoming), and Greek Life. Advise the Western Activities Council, Interfraternity Council, and Panhellenic Council.
• Manage and supervise the Center for Student Involvement and Non-Traditional/Commuter Student Center units and staff, including hiring, evaluating, training, etc.
• Provides supervision and advising for program development and leadership for campus clubs and organizations.
• Supports first-time students through activities such as non-academic advising, attendance and presentations at Griffon Edge (freshmen orientation), conducting leadership workshops, student organization advising, and University 101 presentations.
• Develops and oversees assessment, using Student Affairs learning outcomes. Collaborates with the Division on University retention and persistence efforts.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree; and a minimum of 3 years related higher education administration experience
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in related field
Knowledge of higher education administration, diversity, and student development theory.
