Social Media Manager


Coastal Carolina University is seeking to fill the position of Social Media Manager (Public Information Director I).

Reporting currently to the Associate Vice President for University Marketing and Communication/Chief Communication Officer, this position plays a critical role by leading the development, maintenance, and protection of Coastal Carolina University’s flagship social media accounts. The social media manager will manage all aspects of social media including create and manage content, engagement, photography, and video. Assists with the development and implementation of online marketing, advertising and communication plans and campaigns.


A successful candidate must possess proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; Adobe Premier and Photoshop; knowledge of basic photography, videography and content management systems for web page updates; knowledge and understanding of social media platforms for communication and marketing; and understanding of data and ability to analyze and measure data relationships. Additional areas of a successful candidate include ability to work independently; ability to brainstorm, propose, execute, and analyze major social media campaigns, ability to multitask and working in a collaborative environment; keen attention to details; ability to work well under pressure; and a thoughtful and thorough planner. The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to diversity and success in working with diverse constituencies (preferably both domestic and international) to support an equitable and inclusive campus environment.


Duties include, but are not limited to: manage all official CCU social media channels; post and interact with users on a daily basis following the University’s social media policy and best practices; manage the development and implementation of social media marketing, social media advertisings and social media communication plans and campaigns; work with MarCom photography and/or video production departments to coordinate and post media from news and special events; serve as member of the crisis communications emergency response team; develop reports and dashboards to monitor success of CCU’s social media; and other duties as assigned.


Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, social media, business or a related field and relevant and related experience are required.  A valid driver’s license is also required.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Normal work hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Must be flexible to meet special scheduling needs of the University. Due to the nature of social media coordination, this position will require some evening and weekend work.
