The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
program is offered through our College for Adults (CfA). Students
learn alongside caring industry professionals and gain all the
technical skills and experience necessary to succeed in the medical
field. Courses for theBSNdegree program
meet in a “hybrid” format, combining evening and weekend class
meetings with online learning. Students also participate in
hands-on clinical experiences at leading Twin Cities-area
hospitals, clinics and care facilities. Clinical experiences take
place on weekdays, evenings, or weekends at regional hospitals and
clinics.
TheBSNprogram blends rigorous clinical
nursing education with holistic healing practices. Students learn
about integrative and multicultural healing perspectives alongside
Western medicine and focus on care of the whole person, family, and
community — an approach increasingly valued by healthcare employers
and patients. Faculty in the program embrace holistic nursing and
must be prepared to support students as they develop into a
professional, holistic nurse.
Responsibilities:
- Teach and advise a diverse student population, modeling
socialization to nursing roles, and referring students to
appropriate university services.
- Participate in recruitment, orientation, and advising
activities.
- Provide clear, timely, and specific evaluative feedback to
students about course assignments and/or clinical
performance.
- Assesses, designs, teaches, and evaluates curricular content
and learning experiences in assigned courses to promote student
learning outcomes.
- Evaluates student learning in assigned courses.
- Maintains curricular integrity by ensuring course content
promotes achievement of course student learning
outcomes.
- Engages in scholarship activities that develop expertise and
ability to fulfill faculty responsibilities.
- Contributes to professional development of faculty colleagues
through peer review, mentoring, consultation, and scholarship
activities.
- Models and mentors relational presence that is rooted in
Catholic Social Teaching and consistent with the mission and values
of the university and the department.
- Serves onPOS, DoN, and/or University
committees.
- Collaborates with nursing faculty, Program Director, Associate
Dean of Nursing, and Dean of Nursing to establish and accomplish
short- and long-range goals for the nursing program.
- Participates in recruitment, orientation, and advising
activities according toPOS, DoN, and
university requirements.
- Engages in activities that promote positive relationships with students, faculty and professional colleagues, clinical and community agencies, alumnae, and other external groups.
Our programs are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for
Education in Nursing and Higher Learning Commission. Faculty
responsibilities are organized using theACENaccreditation standards for nursing programs. St.
Catherine University’s bachelor’s degree nursing programs are
endorsed by the American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation
(AHNCC)
