Administrative Specialist

 

The Spadoni College of Education and Social Sciences at Coastal Carolina University seeks a qualified Administrative Specialist.

 

Duties include, but are not limited to: serves as departmental Administrative Specialist and liaison for Political Science and Anthropology/Geography departments; handles various correspondence with faculty, staff, current and prospective students, alumni, parents, and the general public; coordinates prospective student visits, disseminates departmental information; schedules room reservations; coordinates tutoring schedules; coordinates and performs fiscal management activities for the departments, monitors and maintains departmental budgets and accounting functions; initiates and organizes budget requests; responds to budget inquiries, coordinates and performs procurement management activities; coordinates and tracks all departmental purchasing, maintains P-Card, serves as P-Card liaison, oversees purchasing of basic departmental supplies; coordinates and over sees travel activities; coordinates and tracks all departmental related paperwork for Political Science and Anthropology/Geography departments; assists chairs in planning, developing, and implementing academic advising, registration, orientation, recruitment and retention activities; performs Datatel functions, drop/add, change advisers, change of major/minor, assign advisers, make student folders; assists with meet-and-greet, career networking events and other departmental functions as assigned. Maintains and updates student records, assists with transfer and petition issues, assigns faculty advisors, registers students, monitors and assists probation and suspension students; assists chairs with various documents and reports, including annual reports, program evaluations, faculty evaluations, departmental web page and brochures, newsletter, and class scheduling;  provides exceptional customer service to all constituents, including but not limited to, faculty, staff, students, visitors and the community at large; prepares and oversees all hiring and salary paperwork for departmental personnel; and other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and two (2) years of relevant job experience are required.  Equivalent education, training, and experience will be considered. A bachelor’s degree and experience in an academic setting are preferred.
