Description

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for the position of Portuguese Lecturer, to begin in August of 2021. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track position. The Lecturer will be asked to teach nine-credit hours each semester in a combination of lower-division and upper-division courses in Portuguese, culture, literature and/or linguistics. This is a nine-month appointment, with the possibility of renewal based on program needs and performance.

Qualifications
  • M.A. (Ph.D. preferred) in Portuguese or any related field with an emphasis in Portuguese language, literature, linguistics or culture.
  • Two years of experience in teaching college-level Portuguese and a record of teaching excellence.
  • A strong commitment to language pedagogy, effective use of technology in language teaching, and an understanding of proficiency-based language instruction.
  • Native or near-native fluency in both Portuguese and English
