Student Retention-VandalStar Coordinator

Position Summary:
The Student Retention/VandalStar Coordinator facilitates and supports the
implementation and ongoing usage of a university-wide student success/retention
support software called VandalStar (Hobson's Starfish). VandalStar is a key
component in the University of Idaho's retention strategy and in meeting the Idaho
State Board of Education's proactive advising initiative.
The Student Retention/VandalStar Coordinator acts university-wide to coordinate training, daily operations, functional development and testing, internal and external communications, and marketing for VandalStar. The position also serves as back-up academic advisor during peak advising times or staff transition and supports University-wide student retention and success programming.
This position reports to the Associate Director for Advising (Student Success) within the University Advising Services department.
Minimum Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalency
• Two (2) years of demonstrated experience in a higher education setting (academic advising, student services, student affairs, student support and/or student retention efforts).
• Demonstrated experience compiling and analyzing data.
• Demonstrated experience presenting information to individuals and groups.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree with a preference for a master’s degree.
• Experience in project management.
• Experience developing training materials and delivering training.
• Providing academic advising in a higher education setting.
• Ability to work successfully with a diverse group of people, including students,
family, staff, faculty, and administrators.
