Concordia University Chicago invites applicants for the full-time, exempt position of Undergraduate Admission Counselor. This position assists prospective students in navigating the college selection process with a goal of attracting, recruiting, admitting, and enrolling a competitive entering class of traditional undergraduate students. This position is located in River Forest, IL and reports to the Assistant Vice President of Enrollment.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Manages an assigned territory and travels in and out-of-state within that territory as necessary to achieve goals
  • Provides small and large group presentations; utilizes social media to enhance communication with students
  • Skilled in working with a wide range of constituents including LCMS students, homeschool students and those from traditional as well as classical high school backgrounds
  • Reviews applicant files for all students within assigned territory.
  • Maintains regular monthly contact with all applicants, admits, and committed students in assigned territory, throughout the enrollment cycle.
  • Provides support to targeted programs and participates in various Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) events and programs
  • Assists and supports high yield events directly related to key interest groups such as church work and music students
  • Works on various project teams to support the key programmatic functions of the undergraduate office
  • Significant overnight travel and attendance at high school visits, college fair programs, and numerous other events throughout the year
  • Evening and weekend work is frequently required and the counselor must maintain regular contact at consistent intervals with all CUC applicants within the assigned territory
  • Supports the overall mission, vision and values of the university, and the goals of the undergraduate admission office
  • Candidates must be committed to the mission and identity of Concordia University Chicago. Additionally, they must profess values congruent with the teachings of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS).

  • Demonstrated interest and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Must maintain a high level of enthusiasm and energy when working with prospective students
  • Strong commitment to a work environment that supports a team concept to attain departmental and institutional goals
  • Demonstrated proficiency in all Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated technical skills and ability to review and interpret reports to prioritize work and maximize effectiveness
  • Familiarity with and appreciation of higher education values within the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod
  • Flexibility to work evening and weekend hours as necessary
  • Proven commitment to outstanding quality service to all constituents
  • Must possess valid driver's license and regular access to reliable transportation

Minimum Experience Required:

  • Prior admission experience strongly desired
  • Experience working with prospective homeschool students a plus

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree required
