PERFA 132 Play in Production: Stage Director Job Description

M/Tu/W/Th 7:00-10:00 pm; Su noon-6:00 pm— in person

Saint Mary's College seeks an accomplished Stage Director for its Fall ‘21 mainstage Theatre production. Our goals include providing in-person performance opportunities for our undergraduate student cohort, and continuing to advance our commitment to equity and justice.


Qualifications:
At minimum, candidates must possess an MFA in Directing OR have equivalent professional experience (at least 10 professional productions). Candidates must also demonstrate excellence as a Stage Director, for example through recommendations and/or nominations for regional awards. Additional requirements include commitments to color- and gender-conscious casting practices; transparent and equitable rehearsal and production scheduling; and the inclusion of student designers and/or an assistant director as part of the artistic team. We additionally require that candidates have received training in equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging. Experience directing diverse casts is highly desirable.

NOTE: The minimum qualifications for this course have changed from previous offerings, specific to the Fall 2021 offering. Those members of the Saint Mary's College bargaining unit desiring to teach this course should supply materials to facilitate this qualification review, including an updated resume or CV and a cover letter that specifically addresses how you meet the stated qualifications.
