Job Details

SUMMARY

Provides day-to-day administration, maintenance, and technical support of the learning management system (Blackboard Learn/Ultra), and related applications for the Office of Online Learning & Academic Technology.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assists with the day to day implementation, management, and improvement of all online learning applications
  • Actively participates in training and administers “Blackboard Boot Camp” to Cuyahoga Community College’s faculty and students
  • Provides assistance to students and faculty regarding issues related to online learning applications, including Blackboard Learn/Ultra
  • Works collaboratively with Information Technology Services (ITS) and Online Learning & Academic Technology to troubleshoot, interpret problems and provide technical support for software and associated systems
  • Serves as primary point of contact for Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS) related issues with corporate Blackboard Inc point of contact
  • Creates, archives, and manages courses and organizations in Blackboard Learn
  • Analyzes, monitors and diagnoses technical issues to ensure availability of applications to users
  • Assists Director with the installation of all system updates, upgrades, building blocks, LTI’s and other software integrated/engineered with Blackboard Learn
  • Collaborates with the departmental leadership to establish system defaults, policies and procedures, and strategic plans for system use and expansion
  • Participates in short-term and long-range planning
  • Produces user guides and other related documentation for Blackboard Learn and other online learning applications
  • Provides the College’s legal counsel with administrative data
  • Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum five years of demonstrated Learning Management System administration experience (such as Blackboard Learn, D2L Brightspace, Canvas & Moodle)
  • Demonstrated experience with lecture capture, media management, content creation, and test creation applications
  • Demonstrated experience with process mapping or workflow design and LMS configuration planning and engineering of a collage wide learning management system.
  • Demonstrated experience with Windows Server 2012 through 2019, LMS LTI Integration, (Active Directory, LDAP), HTML, and student information systems (Banner)
  • Demonstrated experience effectively making decisions that have major implications on the management and operations within a department
  • Demonstrated experience in a role requiring diverse problem solving methods in a variety of situations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of how Articulate and/or Adobe Captivate software is engineered into the LMS
  • Possess working knowledge of LMS administration, engineered integrations, concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to use in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated intermediate project management skills
  • Intermediate-level proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage projects, set priorities, follow project schedules
  • Ability to build and sustain productive working relationships with colleagues and customers
  • Ability to produce tutorials, guides, and other technical and user documentation
  • Experience working successfully in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to confidentially and discreetly handle subject matters requiring privacy and sensitivity

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

  • Master’s degree
  • PMI- Project Management Skills
  • Demonstrated experience working in a college and/or university setting, specifically working with faculty
  • Demonstrated experience administering LTI’s for Sonic Foundry/Mediasite, ProctorU, Academic Publisher Content, Banner, Qwickly, Blackboard Ultra, Microsoft Teams, SoftChalk, Respondus (test creation and lockdown browser), Articulate and/or Adobe Captivate within a LMS.
  • Demonstrated experience with system administration of Blackboard Mobile, Connect, Content, Community, and Blackboard Learn/Ultra outcomes

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Possess strong knowledge of Java, JavaScript, XML, and HTML5.

  • The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment; 
  • The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated;
  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type.  However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.;
  • Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite
