The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, is accepting applications for the Associate Director of Ethics and Character Development in the Krause Center for Leadership and Ethics (KCLE).
The mission of the KCLE is to create and advance Citadel-focused leadership programs, ethics education, and community engagement to develop principled leaders. To accomplish this mission, the KCLE coordinates academic courses and seminars, leadership training classes, and robust service learning programs that prepare cadets for experiential leadership opportunities each year during The Citadel Experience, the college’s four-year leader development model.
The Associate Director of Ethics and Character Development focuses on a critical aspect of this mission that involves supporting the cadet honor committee through education, training, administration, and operations. Krause Center employees are expected to model The Citadel’s core values of honor, duty, and respect while carrying out the mission of the center.
Duties:
Reporting to the KCLE’s Executive Director, the Associate Director of Ethics and Character Development has the following duties:
- Develop, organize, and implement the Cadet Honor System education and training plan
- Oversee the Cadet Honor Committee administration and assist cadet leaders in day-to-day operations
- Work closely with the Faculty Advisors to the cadet honor committee
- Manage the Cadet Honor System appeals process
- Develop initiatives for future developmental programs
Required Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:
- Education : Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
- Experience :
- Must have progressive experience in a full-time role at a regionally accredited college or university
- Demonstrated success in senior leadership positions in the military, private, non-profit, or public sector
- Practical experience with an academic honor code of conduct
- Technical and Personal Skills :
- Strong aptitude to conceptualize ideas and translate them into a rewarding educational experience
- Ability to coordinate educational programs and events across different campus communities
- Strong desire to mentor and counsel students
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lead discussions with large groups of undergraduate students, faculty, and staff
- Willingness to advise students outside normal business hours
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience in student affairs, leadership, and character development
- Prior experience working at a military college or federal service academy is preferred but not required

- Team-oriented professional work style
- Strong work ethic, self-motivated and positive attitude
- Strong attention to detail and an ability to meet deadlines while managing competing demands for time
Salary is commensurate with experience.
